Email to SMS

3 min readSMS

Once an SMS service has been created on the platform, users can take advantage of a convenient feature: sending SMS messages via email. There are several ways to use the Email to SMS feature:

  1. Single SMS
  2. Bulk SMS
  3. An existing Address Book

To use the Email to SMS feature, you must first register the email address you intend to use for sending these SMS messages. This email address must be associated with a specific Sender ID.

You can register your email address either through the Atomic Platform or the User Portal.

Important Information To ensure that the email you send to us is read properly, please ensure that when you send the email to sms@atomtelecom.com.au is strictly in the To field. DO NOT use the email in the BCC or a forwarded message. You should also not use a shared mailbox to send emails as some recipient details might not be exposed properly.

Atomic Platform

  1. Navigate to Services > SMS
  2. Select the Service you intend to use and click on Manage
  3. Navigate to the Email to SMS tab
  4. You will see a list of all Mobile Numbers / Sender IDs activated for this service. You can enter an email address for the selected mobile number. Please note that each email address must be unique and can only be assigned to one mobile number.
  5. By default, when sending an Email to SMS, the assigned mobile number will be used as the Sender ID. If you have a brand name registered, you can also use the brand name as the Sender ID. Do note that if you should use a brand name, recipients will not be able to reply to the SMS.

User Portal

Log in to the User Portal and navigate to the Email to SMS menu. You will see a list of all Sender ID’s activated for this service. You can enter an email address for the selected Sender ID. Please note that each email address must be unique and can only be assigned to one Sender ID.

Conversation Builder

When you use Email to SMS in tandem with Automation rules to forward incoming SMS to the same email configured for Email to SMS, SMS replies will appear in your email as a chat, which makes it easy for you to view the email conversation that you have with the recipient.

You can also reply to the email (as long as the email address you received it from is the same as configured in the Email to SMS setting) without the need to alter the subject field or edit the content body. Just reply as you would and our AI will figure out your intended message and use that to send as an SMS. Replies are restricted to 480 characters.

This is a beta service.
